Oracle SQL is an extremely rich and powerful language. Much more so than the everyday use of SQL reveals. Today, Oracle SQL is much more than just the simple 'Select From-Group By-Order By' construction it once used to be. The adage is that if it can be done in SQL, it should be done in SQL - and this session demonstrates how SQL and its more recent, advanced extensions can be leveraged to address many more challenges than you may have realized -without resorting to PL/SQL for example. Topics include Inline-Views and Analytical Functions, Pivoting, Scalar Subquery and Recursive Subquery Factoring, smart joining and Flashback Query. Some new Oracle Database 12c SQL functionality is presented as well: Top-N queries, Inline PL/SQL, lateral joins, pattern recognition and more. This will be fast-paced session that challenges and sparks your creativity with SQL. And it provides you with a number of SQL power-tools that will help improve performance and maintainability of virtually any application.
